How to Perfectly Answer HR Interview Questions

How to Perfectly Answer HR Interview Questions

The HR round is perceived to be the easiest, but common assumptions should be avoided. HR interviews are conducted to screen candidates. Your chances of progressing to the next round, and ultimately selection, are heavily reliant on your performance in the interview.

The next step is to prepare for the interview in order to present yourself in the best light possible. You never know what questions will be thrown your way during an interview, but you can prepare for some common ones ahead of time.

Here are a few HR Interview questions to get you started.

1. Could you tell me something about yourself?

It is one of the most frequently asked interview questions of all time, but we are not always successful in answering it. Recruiters look for various responses to this question in order to judge you in the first step. Discuss your key accomplishments and strengths, as well as how these attributes will benefit the employer in the desired position. Write down what you intend to say ahead of time, perfect it, and then practise it whenever possible.

2. What motivates you to leave your current position?

This is a wolf in sheep's clothing question. It appears to be harmless, but if you're not careful, it can destroy your potential in an instant. Please keep your responses to this question as positive as possible. Above all, don't think about how much you despise your current boss! The interviewer wishes to hire a team player rather than a negative and revengeful hater for the position.

3. Why must we employ you?

You must now cautiously respond to this one! And never utter the term "I just need a job. The company wants a response that shows you've given this some thought. Prepare for such questions by becoming well-versed in the company's values, mission statement, development plans, and products. Use this knowledge to explain how your aims and aspirations align with their company's credo and how you would welcome the opportunity to work for them.

4. What are your professional strengths?

To properly answer this question, you must be aware of your strengths in the following areas: personality, experience, and skills. Once you have that information, match your skills to the requirements of the position for which you are interviewing.

5. What are your flaws?

Obviously, no one wants to admit to having any flaws, especially in front of a potential employer. So, what are you going to do? You may provide ONE personal characteristic that is unimportant to the position. Avoid canned responses such as being a perfectionist or a workaholic.

6. Where do you hope to be in five years?

Simply put, do not respond to this question with "Retired." Maintain a positive and simple tone in your responses, with a hint of ambition. Consider a "motivated" versus a "rat race" mentality.

7. What have been your most significant professional achievements?

Concentrate on achievements that are directly related to the open position. Discuss the challenge you were given, your actions, and the outcome. Did you simplify processes? Create a strategy to improve customer satisfaction. Were your efforts recognised by management? Because your answer will require you to go beyond the basic job duties, it will set you apart from other candidates.
