What Is the Difference Between a Resume, a Curriculum Vitae, and a Biodata

Resumes, CVs, and Biodata are all documents that are used to present personal and professional information about a person. They are commonly found in job applications, academic applications, and other similar documents. The primary distinctions between the three are as follows:

  • Biodata is a very short document that only contains basic factual information, whereas resumes and CVs present the same information in greater detail. Curriculum Vitae contain extensive information, whereas resumes only provide brief descriptions.

  • Biodata formats are one page long, whereas resume formats can be two pages long, and CV formats can be even longer due to the information presented. However, unless you have extensive experience, a CV of more than three pages is not recommended.

  • Biodata is extensively used and may be required for documentation other than job or academic purposes. Resumes and CVs are primarily used for job applications, academic applications, and other professional purposes.

  • Biodata is formatted similarly to a functional resume, whereas CVs can be created using either a combination resume or a chronological resume.
