Ma is the ultimate rags-to-riches story. Alibaba founder and chairman Jack Ma is now China's richest man, with an estimated $29.7 billion, thanks to his 7.8% ownership in Alibaba and over 50% investment in payment processing provider Alipay. Jack Ma (a.k.a. Ma Yun) was born on October 15, 1964, in Hangzhou, China's southeastern region. He grew up impoverished in communist China and realised that the only way he could go ahead was via education because he lacked money and connections.
He failed his college entrance test twice and was turned down for hundreds of jobs, including one at KFC, before finding success with Alibaba, his third online firm.
Here are a few of his favourite quotations:
Never, ever quit up. Today is difficult, tomorrow will be much more difficult, but the day after tomorrow will be bright - the key to success is to keep your goal alive. You must keep your dream alive because it may one day come true.
I strive to make myself happy, not because I know that if I'm unhappy, my colleagues will be unhappy, my shareholders will be unhappy, and my customers will be unhappy- CUSTOMERS ARE NUMBER, Jack Ma consistently prioritises his customers, and he has an intriguing motto:
"Customers come first, employees come second, and shareholders come third."
I want to make history, achieve something meaningful with my life, and inspire individuals in the same way that Alibaba has influenced millions of small companies. Then people love and respect you because you made their life meaningful- As a CEO, Jack Ma must turn down thousands of chances every day. He always stays focused, though, since he only examines offers that are connected with his company's objective. The lessons I gained from Alibaba's dark days are that you must instil value, innovation, and vision in your workforce. You also have a chance if you don't give up. And, because you are little, you must be really concentrated and rely on your head rather than your strength - Don't whine, search for chances.
Before I left China, I was taught that China was the wealthiest and happiest country on the planet. So when I got in Australia, I said to myself, 'Oh my God, everything is different from what I was told.' Since then, I've begun to think differently—have passion from the start.
America gave me my tale and my dream. Forrest Gump was my hero... That man appeals to me. I've seen that movie around ten times. I watch the movie whenever I am frustrated. I viewed the film before returning to New York. I watched the movie again, assuring myself that no matter what happened, I was still me- stay focused, the urge to say no.
